I came to this page to looking for dream theory to explain a fundamental shift in my dream life. Most of my dreams for the past several years showed me the things I dreaded the most. Then, coinciding with my resolve to break out of a psychologically abusive relationship, my dreams have changed, adapted as Hartman believes they can, into very clear positive metaphors (learning to drive my old convertible (which was automatic) as a stick shift), attending a writers conference (I'm a housewife struggling to find myself again), a lover biting my neck to take in my blood and with it this energizing spirit that's literally infused me. My dreams have radically changed, not just over time, but in response I believe to my internal committment to change my situation and have taken on, perhaps not the classic "problem resolving" Hartman refers to but "cheerleading" metaphors of what could be if I can sustain momentum. Thank you for hearing out my reactions to this debate. I really appreciate finding a forum like this. Warm Regards, TC
